Austria: Harmonized inflation recedes in December
Harmonized inflation eased to 10.5% in December, following Novembers 11.2%. December’s reading marked the lowest inflation rate since August. The result was driven by moderating price pressures for transportation and housing and utilities.
Still, the trend pointed up, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 8.6% in December (November: 8.1%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 10.2% in December, from the previous month’s 10.6%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.28% over the previous month in December, contrasting the 0.17% increase seen in November. December’s result marked the weakest reading since January 2021.
