Argentina: Consumer confidence dips at beginning of 2021
The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) consumer confidence index decreased to 38.2 in January from 39.3 in December. Therefore, the index moved further below the 50-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.
Consumers were more pessimist over their future financial situation, and over general economic conditions in the year ahead. Moreover, households’ willingness to purchase big ticket items weakened, albeit only marginally.
