Afonso Alves Monteiro is an Associate Economist, who joined FocusEconomics in 2023. He has since produced macroeconomic research and analysis for several countries; among others, Afonso is currently the economist for Germany, Australia, Colombia and Russia. He is also the regional economist for CIS plus and Nordic economies. Afonso holds a master’s degree in economics from the Barcelona School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Portugal’s top-ranked Nova School of Business and Economics.
