Luxembourg - Trade Balance (Euros)

Activity likely remained healthy in the second quarter, after economic growth accelerated in annual terms in the first quarter. The unemployment rate averaged notably lower in April–June compared to Q1, which, coupled with less downbeat consumer sentiment in the same period, bodes well for household consumption. Moreover, business sentiment turned optimistic in the second quarter, suggesting that private sector activity strengthened. Turning to the third quarter, the unemployment rate ticked down to a 17-month low in July. While this suggests that household spending will strengthen further, fewer job seekers than vacancies could hinder private-sector activity growth. Even so, business confidence rose to an over 14-year high in July, highlighting that firms retain an optimistic outlook.
