Current Account in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina - Current Account (billions of Euros)According to GDP data, the economy cooled in the second quarter, largely the result of a feebler external sector. Exports of goods and services weakened, likely affected by declining industrial production, whereas imports of goods and services rebounded notably. Moreover, private consumption also slowed in Q2. More positively, total investment growth accelerated sharply while public spending also picked up from Q1. On the political stage, in late May the European Commission published its opinion on the country’s EU membership application, which was submitted in 2016. The report cited 14 priorities, including public reform and rule of law, Bosnia will need to address before it can begin the formal process of EU accession.
