United Kingdom: Industrial output records lowest growth since April in December
Industrial output increased 0.2% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in December, which followed November’s 0.3% increase. The result marked the weakest reading since April. The weakening was partly driven by a deterioration in manufacturing production growth. In contrast, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply output picked up pace.
On an annual basis, industrial output fell at a softer pace of 3.3% in December (November: -3.9% yoy), the best result since February. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 8.5% in December, down from November’s minus 8.4% reading.
