Ukraine: Inflation rises in May

In May, consumer prices rose 1.3% from the previous month, which was above April’s 0.9% increase. May’s reading was driven by an increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, together with alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.

Inflation moved up from April’s 12.2% to 13.5% in May. Annual average inflation followed suit, rising from 10.8% in April to 11.3% in May.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2017 at 9.6%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees inflation easing to 7.5%.
