Ukraine: Industrial output rebounds in October

November 22, 2017

According to data released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, industrial activity expanded 0.4% in October over the same month last year, contrasting September’s 0.3% contraction. The rebound was chiefly due to strong growth in manufacturing output, while mining and quarrying production continued to decline.

Sequential data confirmed a strengthening in industrial activity, with output rising a seasonally-adjusted 6.9% from the previous month in October (September: +2.5% month-on-month). Annual average growth in industrial output inched down from September’s 0.5% to 0.4% in October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants project that industrial output will grow 3.4% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panelists expect industrial production to rise 3.8%.
