Switzerland: Preliminary data shows consumer confidence hit lowest level since the 1990s in Q2
According to an early release of Q2 data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Swiss consumer sentiment sunk to a series low of minus 40 points in April (January: minus 9 points), Subsequently, the index fell deeper into negative territory and hit its lowest level since the early 1990s.
Consumers were markedly more pessimistic about the general economic situation and are bracing for a severe recession. Consequently, their outlook on their personal finances soured significantly and they were more unwilling to make major purchases at this time.
