Romania: Industrial production grows at softer pace in August
Industrial output growth moderated to 0.5% in August from 5.9% in July, marking the lowest result since February. The slowdown was chiefly due to a weaker increase in electricity output. Meanwhile, manufacturing output slid over the prior month.
On a monthly basis, factory output contracted a marginal 0.1% in seasonally-adjusted terms in August, cooling from July’s 0.9% decline. Meanwhile, the trend improved again, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at 8.4% in August (July: +8.0%).
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 9.3% in 2021, which is down 0.9 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel expects industrial output to increase 5.0% in 2022, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s projection.
