Portugal: Consumer confidence picks up but remains pessimistic in February
Consumer confidence rose to minus 32.5 in February from January’s minus 35.4. February’s print was driven by
improvements on households’ views about their financial situation and the country’s over the next 12 months. That said, households became less willing to purchase big-ticket items over the same time horizon.
Meanwhile, the three-month moving average of the economic climate indicator came in at 1.7 in February, above 1.4 in January, chiefly due to a strong improvement in the services sector.
