Poland: Industrial production slows in May

June 23, 2016

In May, industrial production rose 3.5% over the same month last year, which was down from the 6.0% growth recorded in April. The deceleration reflected a deeper contraction in the mining and quarrying sector and a slowdown in manufacturing growth.

On a monthly basis, industrial production dropped 0.9% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, contrasting the 2.2% expansion recorded in April. Moreover, annual average growth in industrial production in May remained stable at April’s 4.6%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.4% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel expects growth in industrial production to increase 4.6%.
