Peru: Business sentiment plunges in August
Business confidence plummeted to 34.0 in August from 42.9 in July, marking the worst result since June 2020. As a result, the index moved further below the 50-threshold, which separates pessimism from optimism among businesses, for the fourth consecutive month.
The deterioration in firms’ expectations was broad-based in August, and was most likely caused by the country’s political situation. Firms’ views regarding their sector, sales, and future demand for their products all fell this month, as did their views on the company’s current financial situation.
