Malaysia: Industrial output falls again in March

May 9, 2013

In March, industrial production fell 0.2% over the same month last year, which followed the 5.2% decline observed in February but contrasted market expectations, which had industrial production rising 0.2%. The decline mainly reflected a deterioration in manufacturing as well as in mining.

On a monthly basis, industrial production contracted a seasonally adjusted 1.3% in March, which followed the 1.1% drop observed in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists project industrial production to grow 4.7% in 2013, which is up 0.5 percentage points from last month's projection. In 2014, the panel expects industrial output to expand 5.2%.
