Lithuania: GDP growth slows in Q2

July 29, 2022

GDP rose 2.0% year on year in the second quarter of 2022, according to preliminary data. The result followed the 4.8% increase logged in the prior quarter. Meanwhile, in seasonally-adjusted quarter-on-quarter terms, GDP swung into contraction in Q2, falling 0.9%, after the 1.2% rise logged in Q1.

The second quarter’s year-on-year slowdown was due to weaker results in the transportation and storage, and real estate sectors.

More detailed national accounts data for Q2 will be released on 31 August.

FocusEconomics analysts see the economy expanding 1.9% in 2022, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s projection. In 2023, the economy is expected to grow 2.3%.
