Latvia: Industrial output growth dips in April

Industrial production increased 9.6% in April from the same month last year. The reading comes in below March’s revised 9.9% rise (previously reported: +10.0% year-on-year).
April’s expansion was broad-based as all three main components of the index made gains overall. Mining and quarrying recorded the biggest increase, growing by 20.7%. This was followed closely by electricity and gas supply, which rose 18.8%. Meanwhile, growth in the manufacturing sector was more modest at 6.2%.
In seasonally-adjusted terms, industrial production swung from a revised 0.9% expansion (previously reported: +1.0% month-on-month) in March to a 0.3% contraction in April.
