Kazakhstan: Services PMI rises in January
The Tengri Partners Services PMI fell to 49.8 in January from 51.4 in December. As a result, the index fell below the 50.0 no-change threshold, signaling a deterioration in services sector operating conditions compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the Composite PMI rose to 49.7 in January from 49.4 in December.
There was a fractional contraction in services activity over the surveyed month. New orders broadly stalled as underlying demand faltered. More positively, firms raised employment. On the price front, inflationary pressures intensified, with service companies increasing prices at the joint-strongest rate on record. Lastly, confidence in the sector remained historically high.
