Japan: Industrial production growth slows in February
Industrial production increased 0.4% in February on a month-on-month and seasonally-adjusted basis, down from the revised 1.0% increase in January (previously reported: +0.8% month-on-month).
February’s reading was supported by increased production of electronic parts and devices, chemicals, and metals. However, a reduction in motor vehicle production weighed on overall output.
On an annual basis, industrial production fell 4.7% in February, after decreasing a revised 2.3% in January (previously reported: -2.5% year-on-year). The annual average variation in industrial production was minus 3.4% in February (January: -3.1%).
