Germany: Merchandise exports rise in October
Merchandise exports rose 4.1% month-on-month on a calendar- and seasonally-adjusted basis, swinging from the 0.7% drop recorded in September. Imports, meanwhile, rose 5.0% month-on-month at the outset of the fourth quarter, up from September’s 0.4% increase. As a result, the calendar- and seasonally-adjusted trade surplus narrowed to EUR 12.5 billion in October from EUR 12.9 billion in September.
On an annual basis, exports of goods rose 8.1% in October after September’s 7.2% increase. Imports of goods, meanwhile, rose 17.3% in October, up from September’s 13.3% increase.
