Czech Republic: Manufacturing PMI eases in September
The S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 41.7 in September from 42.9 in August. Consequently, the index remained entrenched below the critical 50-threshold that separates an expansion from a contraction in manufacturing sector business conditions compared to the prior month.
September’s reading chiefly reflected stronger declines in employment and new orders. Meanwhile, output continued to contract, albeit at a somewhat softer pace. On the price front, input prices decreased again amid muted demand, while output prices dropped for the fifth consecutive month and a the sharpest pace since April 2010. Lastly, business sentiment weakened amid lower client spending.
