Brazil: Retail sales growth picks up in October
Retail sales expanded 0.9% in October (September: +0.5% mom). October’s upturn largely came on the back of a rebound in supermarkets, food, drinks and tobacco sales as well as in sales of other articles for household and personal use.
On an annual basis, retail sales rose 8.3% in October, which was above September’s 7.2% expansion and marking the best result since February 2014. Accordingly, annual average retail sales growth rose to 1.3% in October (September: +0.9%), signaling an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
