Brazil Business Confidence November 2016

Brazil: Business confidence edges up in November

November 30, 2016

Business sentiment rose in November, according to the Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (FGV, Fundaçao Getúlio Vargas) business confidence indicator. The index increased a seasonally adjusted 0.5% from the previous month, rising from October’s 86.6 points to 87.0 points. The index remains below the 100-point threshold that signals that businesses are more pessimistic than optimistic.

According to FGV, the result came on the back of firms’ less pessimistic views regarding the current and future economic situation.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report see fixed investment falling 10.1% in 2016, which is down 0.6 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect fixed investment to grow 2.1%, which is also down 0.6 percentage points from the previous month’s forecast.
