Australia: Unemployment rate rises in April
Seasonally-adjusted employment decreased by 4,300 in April, following 61,100 jobs added in March. April’s result was driven by a decline in full-time employment more than offsetting a rise in part-time employment.
Meanwhile, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate rose to 3.7% from March’s 3.5%. However, the seasonally-adjusted underemployment dipped to 6.1% in April from 6.2% in March, while the participation dropped to 66.7% from March’s 66.8%.
