Angola: Economic sentiment in the third quarter records worst reading since Q2 2017
The economic sentiment index came in at minus 24.0 in the third quarter, down from the second quarter’s minus 21.0. Q3’s result marked the weakest sentiment since the second quarter of 2017. The fall in confidence likely continued to reflect the impact of Covid-19.
Sector-level data showed that the deterioration in business confidence was broad-based, with all but two sectors recording a drop in sentiment levels—confidence in the commercial and the construction sectors ticked up, but remained deeply in pessimistic territory. That said, only the communications sector remained in positive territory despite dipping down.
