Nicaragua - GDPThe economy has remained shipshape so far this year, with May’s economic activity indicator signaling solid growth, while real wages and employment continue to rise unabated. In addition, remittances, an important source of foreign currency and a key driver of private consumption, rose substantially in H1, reflecting a strong U.S. construction sector. A confirmation of the positive evolution of the economy came in July, when credit rating agency Moody’s upgraded the country’s outlook to positive. The agency cited a robust macroeconomic framework conducive to economic and fiscal stability, which will mitigate the impact of potential external shocks.
