GDP in Lebanon
Lebanon - GDPAn end to over two years of political gridlock is within reach. On 28 December, Lebanon’s parliament approved a national unity government led by Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who announced the government’s intention to hold parliamentary elections next spring. This, coupled with Hariri’s commitment to tackle problems related to electricity and water supply and waste disposal, bodes well for Lebanese citizens, but several obstacles still loom. Pressing issues such as the adoption of a new electoral law and the ratification of the 2017 budget will require onerous negotiations among all parties that make up the government, which incorporates a wide cross-section of Lebanon’s ethnic and political spectrum.
