GDP in Laos
Laos - GDPGrowth slowed slightly last year as the economy faced a series of domestic and external challenges such as subdued global trade, lower prices for commodities and poor weather conditions, which hurt the key agriculture sector. Despite these issues, Laos was one of the fastest-growing countries in Southeast Asia in 2016. On 18 April, in an effort to maximize investment benefits for Laos, the government cut the maximum investment period for new concession projects to 50 years, down from the previous requirement of 99 years. According to the government, the move will allow the country to revise concession conditions in a more timely manner.
