GDP in Honduras
Honduras - GDPAnnual GDP growth hit a multi-year high of 4.9% in Q1 on the back of a booming external sector, despite higher import costs. Exports growth nearly doubled from a quarter earlier, largely the result of higher prices for agricultural commodities. The domestic economy also saw broadly positive gains: growth in private consumption accelerated and fixed investment rebounded notably. Moreover, the domestic economy looks to have continued its expansion in Q2, with the IMAE expanding at a multi-year high in both April and May, while the trade deficit fell in April as the pace of agricultural exports continued briskly. In late June, Honduras launched a customs union with neighboring Guatemala that is intended to boost freer trade and attract investment to the region.
