According to preliminary Central Bank estimates for the third quarter, GDP increased 4.1% over the same period last year, which was up from the 3.8% expansion recorded in the previous three-month period. At the sector level, the reading was driven by an acceleration in the industrial sector, which expanded 1.1% in annual terms, doubling the 0.5% rise recorded in the previous quarter. In contrast, agriculture moderated from a 9.0% rise to a meagre 0.4% expansion, while services rose 3.9% (Q2 2012: +4.4% year-on-year).
