As a result, annual inflation stepped down from 4.4% in July to 4.1% in August, the lowest level since November 2010. The monthly reading reflected lower prices for clothing and footwear (-1.66% month-on-month) as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.62% mom). However, annual average inflation inched up from 4.4% in July to 4.5% in August, the highest level since October 2009. The government expects inflation to average 3.7% this year.
