Steel (USA) Price Outlook

U.S. steel prices lost some ground in recent weeks, likely weighed on by higher supply expectations amid the announcement of new steel mills, but remained elevated on healthy demand. Hot-rolled coil steel traded at USD 1,881 per metric ton on 7 October, which was 2.2% lower than on the same day in the prior month. However, the price was up 87.2% on a year-to-date basis and was 201.0% higher than on the same day in 2020.
