Palm oil prices averaged USD 1,303 per metric ton in July, up 3.2% from June. On 31 July, the commodity traded at USD 1,340 per metric ton, up 5.1% from 30 June.
Palm oil prices jumped to a three-month high in July, likely due to surging demand ahead of U.S. tariff hikes on Asian goods from early August. Moreover, wildfires in Indonesia threatened to disrupt harvesting and shipments, stoking supply fears; over half of all global exports of the commodity originate from Indonesia.
