Natural gas EU prices averaged USD 12.39 per MMBtu in June, up 6.1% from May. On 30 June, the commodity traded at USD 11.32 per MMBtu, down 0.6% from 30 May.
Prices rose for the second consecutive month in June as sweltering weather in Europe raised heating demand, while the Israel-Iran conflict raised the risk of the latter closing the Strait of Hormuz and blocking exports of LNG. That said, prices tumbled late in the month as the two countries reached a U.S.-brokered ceasefire.
