Cotton prices averaged USD 66.21 cents per pound in April, up 0.4% from March. On 30 April, the commodity traded at USD 65.77 cents per pound, down 1.6% from 31 March.
Cotton prices averaged higher in April, marking the first price uptick in six months. Demand from India, one of the world’s largest cotton yarn processors and exporters, likely boosted prices. That said, the increase was capped by lower oil prices, which makes cotton-substitute polyester cheaper.
