Coffee Price Outlook

Arabica coffee prices firmed up somewhat at the end of September and beginning of October on a slight recovery in the Brazilian real. Nonetheless, prices remain depressed at around 12-year lows due to a record Brazilian harvest in 2018–2019 and a weaker real amid political uncertainty ahead of the Brazilian election. Arabica coffee traded at USD 107 cents per pound on 5 October, which was 4.7% higher than on the same day last month. However, the price was down 14.3% on a year-to-date basis and was 14.4% lower than on the same day last year.
