Coffee prices averaged USD 375 cents per pound in September, up 11.4% from August. On 30 September, the commodity traded at USD 360 cents per pound, down 7.0% from 29 August.
Average prices for arabica coffee hit a four-month high in September as a 50% U.S. tariff on Brazil exports tightened U.S. inventories. Adverse weather in Brazil’s key coffee-producing region, and a rising probability of a La Niña weather event occurring in Q4—prolonging the country’s dry spell—sparked supply concerns.
