Coffee prices averaged USD 336 cents per pound in August, up 13.2% from July. On 29 August, the commodity traded at USD 387 cents per pound, up 32.0% from 31 July.
Average prices for arabica coffee picked up in August on the back of supply concerns, as global inventories tightened and Brazil’s key coffee-producing region faced frost and unusually dry weather. Moreover, declining exports from Brazil and a 50% U.S. tariff on Brazilian goods pushed prices up further.
