Inflation eases in July from June

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 3.1% in annual terms in July, following a 3.3% increase in the previous month. Relative to the prior month's figures, price pressures reduced for transportation in July (+2.3% in annual terms vs +4.4% in June). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for housing and utilities (+7.3% vs +7.2% in June) and recreation (+0.6% vs +0.1% in June). Finally, the changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages and restaurants and hotels were the same as in the prior month (+0.6% and +3.6%, respectively). Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 3.4% in July, stable from the previous month's reading. Finally, harmonized consumer prices flatlined in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.29% increase in the prior month.
