Ireland: Industrial production rebounds in June
Latest reading: Industrial production rose 2.0% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in June, following a flat reading in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in June improved for modern sector (+1.6% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +0.6% in May) and traditional sector (+5.3% vs -2.0% in May).
The modern sector’s output tends to be volatile—even more so now as U.S. tariffs wreak havoc on trade flows—due to the presence of multinational-dominated industries, such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals and computers and electronics.
On a year-on-year basis, industrial production was up 0.3% in June, following a 12.8% decline in the previous month.
