Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 96.6 in June, following May’s 93.5. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In June, sentiment brightened in the construction sector (+27.3 vs +10.9 in May), the services sector (+15.7 vs +5.9 in May) and the retail sector (+16.3 vs +4.7 in May). In contrast, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (+6.7 vs +10.0 in May) and among consumers (-24.5 vs -23.0 in May).
