Inflation slows in June from May
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation fell to 5.2% in annual terms in June, following 6.3% in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's figures, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.3% in annual terms vs +4.0% in May), transportation (+11.0% vs +14.6% in May), housing and utilities (+5.1% vs +5.4% in May) and recreation (+8.6% vs +10.4% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for restaurants and hotels in June (+7.9% vs +7.8% in May). Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 5.4% in June, following a 6.9% increase in the prior month. Lastly, harmonized consumer prices were down 0.53% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.32% rise in the previous month.
