Lithuania - Harmonized Inflation

Inflation dips to four-month low in March

Consumer prices ticked down 0.1% on a month-on-month basis in March, matching February’s reading and marking the second consecutive month of contraction. A breakdown of the sub-components showed that the result largely reflected lower prices for transport and utilities, which more than offset higher prices for clothing and footwear. Meanwhile, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages remained broadly stable in March.

Inflation fell to a four-month low of 1.8% in March, from 2.8% in February. In turn, annual average inflation ticked down to 2.4% at the end of Q1, from 2.5% in February. Lastly, harmonized inflation moderated to 1.7% in March, from 2.8% in February.

FocusEconomics panelists project harmonized inflation to average 1.9% in 2020, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2021, the panel sees inflation at 2.6%.
