Lithuania: Inflation remains above target in July
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 5.4% in annual terms in July, stable from the prior month’s reading. July’s reading was the joint-strongest since August 2023.
Relative to the prior month’s data, price pressures were higher for housing and utilities in July (+14.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +11.6% in June). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.4% vs +0.2% in June), transportation (+10.9% vs +11.6% in June), recreation (+5.6% vs +6.4% in June) and restaurants and hotels (+5.1% vs +5.9% in June).
Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 5.9% in annual terms in July, following a 5.7% increase in the prior month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.14% in July in month-on-month terms, following a 0.46% rise in the prior month.
