Inflation picks up in September from the prior month

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 3.0% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 2.4% increase in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.3% in annual terms vs +4.2% in August), transportation (+2.1% vs +1.6% in August), housing and utilities (+4.8% vs +4.7% in August) and restaurants and hotels (+4.3% vs -0.2% in August). In contrast, price pressures reduced for recreation in September(+2.4% vs +3.1% in August). Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 3.3% in annual terms in September, following a 2.8% increase in the previous month. Finally, harmonized consumer prices declined 0.31% in September in month-on-month terms, following a 0.31% rise in the previous month.
