Inflation drops in July
Latest reading: Inflation dropped to 0.7% in July, below June’s 1.5%. Looking at the details of the release, transportation costs plunged in July, and price pressures for housing and utilities eased. In contrast, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a stronger rate. The trend pointed down, with annual average inflation falling to 0.7% in July (June: 0.8%). Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.17% in July over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.06% rise logged in June.
