Ukraine: Inflation slows in May from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 8.2% in annual terms in May, following a 8.6% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures reduced for food and non-alcoholic beverages in May (+7.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +9.6% in April). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+2.1% vs +1.9% in April) and transportation (+20.0% vs +19.1% in April).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices rose 7.9% in annual terms in May, following a 7.6% increase in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.90% in May in month-on-month terms, following a 1.40% rise in the previous month.
