Czech Republic: Inflation eases in May from April
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 2.1% on a year-on-year basis in May, following a 2.5% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.7% in annual terms vs +5.2% in April) and recreation and culture (+3.0% vs +3.4% in April). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for housing and utilities (+1.3% vs +1.2% in April) and transportation (+9.4% vs +8.7% in April).
Lastly, consumer prices were up 0.10% in May on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.49% rise in the previous month.
