France: Economic sentiment improves in July
Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 95.9 in July, following June’s 93.5. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In July, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-5.8 vs -8.0 in June), the retail sector (-12.1 vs -16.9 in June) and among consumers (-16.9 vs -19.2 in June). However, sentiment darkened in the construction sector (-19.3 vs -18.5 in June) and the services sector (-3.5 vs -2.4 in June).
