Japan: Industrial production accelerates in June
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 1.3% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in June, following a 0.1% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, the reading for manufacturing improved in June (+1.3% on a month-on-month basis vs +0.1% in May). In contrast, the reading for mining softened in June (-5.0% vs -1.2% in May).
In annual terms, industrial production increased 4.2% in June, following a 2.1% decline in the prior month.
