Austria: Industrial production shrinks in April
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 1.3% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in April, following 1.5% growth in the prior month. April’s reading was the weakest since August 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in April softened for capital goods (-5.2% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +6.4% in March), non-durable consumer goods (-3.6% vs 0.0% in March) and intermediate goods (+0.5% vs +0.8% in March). In contrast, the reading for durable consumer goods improved in April (-2.9% vs -4.3% in March).
On a year-on-year basis, industrial production rose 0.6% in April, following 1.7% growth in the prior month.
