Turkey: Inflation decelerates in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 32.1% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 32.6% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were milder price pressures for transport (+31.2% on a year-on-year basis vs +34.3% in May) and housing and utilities (+45.1% vs +45.6% in May). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+35.4% vs +34.9% in May) and clothing and footwear (+14.2% vs +14.1% in May). Finally, the change in restaurants and hotels prices was the same as in the prior month (+31.6% in June and May).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 29.8% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 30.4% rise in the prior month.
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.99% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 1.71% rise in the prior month.
