Taiwan: Industrial production slows in May
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 11.8% on a year-on-year basis in May, following a 14.9% rise in the prior month. May’s reading was the weakest since January 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in May softened for manufacturing (+12.7% on a year-on-year basis vs +16.0% in April) and electricity and gas supply (-1.3% vs -1.1% in April). In contrast, readings improved for water supply (+3.5% vs +2.7% in April) and mining and quarrying (-7.6% vs -8.7% in April).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production increased 1.5% in May, following a 0.9% increase in the prior month.
